Took my vintage Pendleton blazer to a blade meetup and the lining got snagged

I was at a custom knife swap in Denver last Saturday and leaned against an old workbench. The rough edge caught the silk lining on my 1970s blazer and ripped a 4 inch gash. Anyone else have a wardrobe mishap at a knife gathering?

Man that sucks, vintage Pendleton is tough to replace. It's funny how the one thing you'd think would be safest at a knife meet is the blazer, but old workbenches don't care what year your clothes are from. I've noticed this pattern where people get so focused on the gear they're showing off they forget the environment is full of hazards that don't care about your stuff. Last swap I went to someone's WWII bayonet scratched up a custom sheath from the guy next to them just from bumping elbows while reaching for a burrito.

That burrito and bayonet story is gold, pure gold. Reminds me of the time I brought a brand new fixed blade to a swap and spent the whole time worried about it... only to walk into a low hanging tree branch on the way back to my truck. The blade was fine, but my forehead looked like I went three rounds with a cat. Funny how we prep for the obvious dangers and get taken out by dumb stuff like branches and burritos. Hope you can get that lining patched up, a good tailor can work magic on silk even with a gnarly tear like that.
