Vent: I wore my 1978 blazer to a knife show in Tulsa and a guy asked if I was the appraiser
So last Saturday I hit the big knife show in Tulsa and decided to wear my navy 1978 blazer with the brass buttons because the hall gets cold and it looks sharp. About ten minutes in, this older guy walks up and asks if I'm the appraiser for the estate table in back. I laughed and said no, I just like old jackets. He looked at me kind of sideways and said the buttons on a jacket like that usually mean something. Then he pulled out a little Case folder and showed me how the brass on his knife matched the patina on my buttons almost perfect. Next thing I know, three more guys crowd around and we're all comparing hardware finishes on our pockets. I learned that a jacket can start a knife talk faster than any blade I could pull out. Turns out vintage sports coats and custom slip joints have the same crowd, we all just like old things that still work. Now I want to know, has anyone else gotten pulled into a knife chat because of what they were wearing?
