Wasted $50 on a knife sharpening system that didn't work
Bought that guided rod sharpener from the mall kiosk last month. Made my favorite Opinel blade worse, not better. Anyone else just stick to a simple stone instead?

Simple tools almost always work better than the fancy gadgets promising shortcuts.

@thomas_brown you're spot on about that. I remember when I tried using a high-end multitool for camping and it was just clumsy and complicated to handle. Ended up switching back to a basic pocket knife and a separate fire starter, both of which never let me down. What simple tools do you swear by?
