Had a game night where the host's cat literally ate a player's pawn

This happened at a friend's place in Austin about 3 months ago. We were halfway through a 6-player game of a fantasy RPG board game when his cat jumped on the table, grabbed a plastic elf pawn, and ran off with it. We spent 20 minutes chasing the thing around the house while the owner was just laughing. Eventually we found it chewed up under the couch and used a bottle cap as a replacement. What's the weirdest thing that's ruined one of your game nights?

Why are we blaming the cat when the host should've kept the game pieces away from a known jumper? Cats are gonna cat, that's on the person running the game night.

Man, I'm the guy who once lost a Monopoly game because my dog ate the "Bank Error in Your Favor" card. Like, I can't even be mad at the cat here, I've had my own pet disasters during game night. Host should've known better, but also, I've left a game piece out before and watched my cat treat it like a hockey puck across the floor. I'm just saying, if you're the host and you know your cat is a jumper, maybe put the pieces in a drawer or something before the chaos kicks off. But hey, I'm also the person who once accidentally sat on a remote and changed the channel during the final scene of a movie, so who am I to judge.

Man, cats and board games just don't mix, I swear. They think every piece is a personal toy or a snack. Guess that elf pawn was just too shiny for its own good.
