My buddy Mark swore I was overthinking game night rules... he was right
Mark from my gaming group kept telling me to just let people pick their own teams for Codenames instead of me randomizing everyone. I was like nah, gotta keep it fair. Did it his way last Friday and the whole night was way more relaxed. No arguments, no one pouting. Has anyone else found that letting go of strict rules actually makes games better or is my group just lazy?

Well @robert64, I'm guessing Mark had to deal with a few salty players before he figured out his way was better... maybe that's why he was so insistent about it. Some people just take casual games way too seriously and you gotta let the fun win out. I say stick with Mark's method until someone starts crying, then you can pull out the randomizer again.
