Pro tip: Dont buy deluxe editions of Kickstarter board games blind
I dropped $120 on a deluxe version of a space exploration game last July because the miniatures looked SO cool in the pictures. When it finally showed up in December, the rulebook was a mess and the game took 4 hours for a 2-player round that was supposed to be 45 minutes. Has anyone else gotten burned by a flashy Kickstarter campaign that didnt deliver on the actual gameplay?

Used to think I was just paying for quality components but after getting stuck with a clunky 4 hour slog I totally get where you're coming from now.

That $120 space game you mentioned is exactly the kind of thing I try to warn my friends about now. I got a deluxe fantasy dungeon crawler for $150 and the extra shiny bits ended up in a box while the actual game sat unplayed after two frustrating sessions. It's rough when the hype makes you forget that good gameplay matters way more than fancy pieces.
