Shoutout to nailing down a smooth way to run game nights
Our last session flowed perfectly from start to finish.

Flowed perfectly from start to finish" sounds like a fantasy novel. My game nights usually flow like a clogged sink, where we spend an hour arguing about a rule and another thirty minutes because someone got really into the snack bowl. I call a session a win if we remember what our characters were doing after a bathroom break.

Those rule arguments and snack distractions are what make the night memorable. Perfect flow would be boring compared to our hilarious messes.

Last Saturday we spent forty minutes debating if a goblin could fit in a standard barrel. @kevinross is totally right, those weird tangents are the whole point. The rulebook got thrown across the room at one point, but we were laughing so hard it didn't matter. My character's whole quest got forgotten because we were too busy naming the tavern cat. That messy energy is way better than some perfect, quiet game. You remember the stupid arguments for years.
