TIL I was setting up Catan wrong for 3 years
I was at a game night last month at a friend's house and he watched me place the robber. He asked why I was putting it next to a 6. I told him that's where it starts for everyone. Turns out the robber doesn't go on the board at the start of the game. I had been playing with it sitting on a hex right from turn one for over 3 years. Anyone else find out they've been messing up a basic rule for way too long?

Isn't it funny how one small rule change can completely shift how you see a game? I've noticed that same thing happens with stuff like recipes or even driving routes. Like I spent years putting oil in a pan before heating it up, turns out that's not the best way either. Its wild how we just assume we know how things work until someone casually points out we've been doing it backwards this whole time.

The pancake thing got me. @anna_carter53 I swear I made pancakes for ten years flipping them way too early because I thought you had to flip as soon as bubbles popped. Then a buddy told me to wait until the edges looked dry and the bubbles pop and stay open. Game changer. Totally flat, even golden brown every time now. Makes you wonder what other little things we just never questioned.
