Took me 4 years to finally try a solo campaign
I always figured solo board gaming was just for people who couldn't find groups, so I ignored it. Then last winter my regular group fell apart when two guys moved to Denver and the other one had a baby. I picked up a used copy of a legacy game at a flea market for $12, figured I'd play one session and give up. That first night I played 3 hours straight and actually got deeper into the story than I ever did with my old group. Has anyone else converted to solo after being stubborn about it for ages?

Man, you basically described the exact same journey I went through but with way more denial. I spent years side-eyeing solo gamers like they were solving puzzles alone in a basement for fun, and now I'm the guy who clears his whole Sunday just to play a dungeon crawler by myself. The real kicker is that solo play actually made me a better player, because I stopped blaming the group for my terrible dice luck and finally had to face my own bad choices. That $12 flea market find turned out cheaper than any therapy session, too. Now I just tell people I'm "testing game mechanics" when they catch me talking to the table like it's my co-op partner.
