Appreciation post: My new apprentice in Chicago finally asked why I was grinding the bevel on the inside of the joint.

Been doing it backwards for 15 years because that's how my old journeyman showed me. Anyone else have a habit they learned wrong from the start?

Sometimes the wrong way just works for the job at hand.

But what happens when that "wrong way" breaks down later? It might solve the immediate problem but create a bigger one down the line. Seems like a risky trade-off to me.
