Forked over $200 for a 'top tier' welding hood, turns out the auto-dark feature was trash

Bought a fancy Miller hood off a supply house deal last month, saved $50 but the auto-dark kept flickering on me during a job in Nashville. Had to switch back to my old passive lens after one shift. Anyone else get burned by a hood that looked good on paper?

Man that's rough, you saved fifty bucks and ended up losing a whole shift fighting a flickering hood? I had a similar deal with a Jackson hood a couple years back, the sensor would ghost on me every time I tried to weld vertical up on some 1/4 inch plate. Had to keep flipping my passive down between passes, drove me nuts. Ended up just keeping the old hood in the truck for backup after that.

Fifty bucks ain't worth losing a whole shift over a hood that won't stay lit
