Hit 500 welds on a single job last month in Baton Rouge

Was working a turnaround at the refinery down there and counted up my weld logs. 500 exactly on one heat exchanger bundle. Never hit a number that high before on a single piece of equipment. How many welds have you guys done on a single job before?

I read somewhere that a guy did over 800 welds on a single reactor vessel in Texas City, so 500 on one heat exchanger bundle is still a solid number. That's a lot of rod burning for one piece of gear, especially on a turnaround where you're racing the clock. I've never hit 500 myself, but I did around 350 on a boiler tube sheet a few years back and felt it in my shoulders for a week. Was there a lot of restricted position welding on that bundle, or was it mostly straight downhill stuff?

Did a buddy of mine ever tell you about the 400 he did on a coke drum head, @kevin_wells46, almost had to crawl out of the thing?
