Hot take: I think 1 inch flex lines for gas connections are too weak
Every job I see guys slapping on those skinny 1 inch flex gas lines like they're fine. I spent Tuesday replacing one at a boiler job in Gary that had a pinhole leak from vibration after only 3 years. We used 1.5 inch corrugated on the same unit and it's still solid. Am I the only one who thinks code should push for thicker wall on gas flex?

And it's the same story everywhere, not just gas lines. I've noticed how everything from appliance cords to water heater hoses gets made thinner every year, just barely passing the minimum. Seems like we're all chasing that cheap price tag until something fails and costs way more to fix.

Man tell me about it. It's like they hired a bunch of engineers specifically to figure out how much material they can shave off before the thing literally explodes lmao. Next thing you know we'll be buying extension cords made out of hopes and dreams that catch fire if you look at them wrong. And yeah, that cheap price tag is always a trap. You save 5 bucks today and end up paying 300 to a plumber tomorrow because the hose snapped at 2 AM. Classic "pay me now or pay me later" situation.
