Just learned some boiler tubes have a lifespan shorter than I thought
Was reading through an old OSHA report last night and found out that firetube boilers typically need tube replacements after about 15 to 20 years, even with good water treatment, which caught me off guard since I always figured they'd last longer than that.

That's just how it goes. Everything wears out faster than you'd expect.

Well, shoot. Yeah, you're right. I bought a pair of boots last year that were supposed to be "indestructible" and the sole started peeling off after six months. Took them back to the store and the guy just shrugged at me like it was my fault for walking in them.
