Pinhole leak on a 3/8 tube at the Monaca job, and I had the torch too hot
Was rolling a 3/8 tube into a header on a small package boiler over in Monaca last Tuesday and got a pinhole leak at the seal right off the bat. I had the torch cranked higher than I should have and the tube end got too hot before it seated, so the roll was sloppy and it leaked under about 40 psi. Shut it down, cut the bad end off square, and re-rolled it with a cooler flame and more patience on the expansion. That tube went in clean the second time and held fine through the hydro. I've rolled plenty of tubes but that one humbled me, mostly because I was rushing to beat the shift change. Curious what flame setting you all run for thin wall 3/8 tube, because mine was clearly too hot for the job.
