Pro tip: Miller vs Lincoln wire feeders on a big job last week

Ngl, I always ran Miller but swapped to a Lincoln for a 12-hour shift at a refinery. The Lincoln held tension way better on the spool, saved me 20 minutes of fiddling per reel. Anyone else notice a difference between the two on heavy gauge?

That 6200 pound curb weight is what keeps the needle from shaking on rough ground, but nobody mentions how the auto tensioner handles cold starts. Mine sits outside all winter and the tension stays rock solid at 20 degrees, which is half the reason the belts last so long. Most folks blame the beefy brackets, but the real trick is how the pivot bushing is greased from the factory. You replace that bushing with a cheap aftermarket one and suddenly the "tension consistency" turns into a squeak festival by spring. Just saying, that stock bushing grease is doing more work than people give it credit for.
