That one day last month when a 2 inch tube sheet patch took 10 hours

We were on a job at a chemical plant in Baton Rouge, old heat exchanger, and the whole crew spent an entire shift fighting with warped tubes and a bad alignment on the patch plate, and by the end I was ready to throw my stinger in the river, has anyone else dealt with a tube sheet that just won't cooperate?

10 hours for a 2 inch patch" sounds EXACTLY right to me. You call that a problem but I call that job security. Warped tubes and bad alignment are standard fare on old equipment, and you don't get to just walk away when it gets hard. That exchanger has been through heat cycles and bad water for decades, and you expect it to lay down and cooperate? The job took 10 hours because you had to do it right, not because it should have been quick. Maybe next time bring better tools and a stronger back instead of complaining about the difficulty.
