The real difference between acetylene and propane on a big job

I used to swear by acetylene for everything. Then last month on a job at a power plant in Gary, we had to do 30 hours of straight cutting on 2-inch plate. Swapped to propane halfway through because the acetylene bottles kept running out. Honestly it cut slower at first but after 10 hours I was less tired and we spent way less money. Anyone else notice propane is easier on the hands for long runs?

That 2-inch plate cuts clean and fast with acetylene, no need to swap.

Cut 3/4 inch with that same setup at my shop yesterday and it was flawless.
