Tried that acetone trick on a sticky valve and it actually worked

Ngl I was fixing a boiler down in Lexington last week and had this valve that was completely gummed up. I rememebered some guy on here saying to soak it in acetone for a few hours. Tried it and the thing freed right up. Never thought a cheap solvent would do that. Anyone else had luck with that or am I just getting lucky?

Wait acetone actually works on valves? I thought that was just internet myth stuff.

acetone actually works on valves" - man idk about that. I tried it once and all it did was eat the plastic handle off the thing, valve still stuck. Maybe you got lucky but I'm not buying into the hype.
