A customer in Austin made me rethink my endbands

I used to just glue on pre-made endbands and call it done. This one guy pointed out how the colors clashed with his book cloth and said it looked cheap. He was right, so now I take 15 extra minutes to hand-sew endbands that actually match the cover. Has anyone else had a client call out a small detail like that?

Love that a client actually made you level up your work like that.

Huh, did your guy also bring his own Pantone swatches or was it just me? A buddy of mine had a client call him out on the thread color on a saddle stitch once. Said the white thread looked like dental floss against his dark gray paper. My friend actually re-did the whole thing with black thread, and the guy tipped him $50 for the trouble.
