A customer's comment about my headbands made me redo my whole process

She said the ends looked 'chopped off' compared to a book from 1982, so I switched from cutting them with scissors to folding them over the boards first, and now I spend an extra 15 minutes per book but the joints actually line up flush.

The extra 15 minutes is a real tradeoff, but once you see those joints sit right, you can't go back. Scissors always left a tiny bit of play for me too, like the fabric would shift just enough to bug you. Folding first forces everything to line up before you even glue, so the final result feels sturdy and finished. Honestly, that customer probably saved you a whole lot of returns and re-dos down the road. Sometimes the pickiest people end up doing you the biggest favor.
