After 11 years, I finally stopped using PVA for book cloth

I redid a 1930s novel last Tuesday with a heat-activated adhesive instead of PVA and it held SO much better on the spine. What convinced me was watching my mentor in Portland test a hinge after 3 days, it didn't peel at all compared to my usual paste job. Anyone else made the switch for cloth covers, or do you stick with the old school way?
