Had a stretch last month where three straight custom orders all came back with the same spine cracking issue.

Turns out I was switching between two different PVA glue batches without checking the mix ratio, and the dryer winter air was making the problem way worse than usual, anyone else run into mystery glue problems during colder months?

Glue issues in winter are more about temperature than humidity in my experience. Cold glue straight from the shop won't bond right no matter how dry the air is, and most people don't let it warm up to room temp overnight before using it. I'd bet letting your bottles sit inside for 24 hours before mixing would fix the problem faster than fiddling with ratios.

That same spine cracking thing happened to me too, it's like the glue goes all temperamental when the air gets dry. I've noticed it's the same way with other craft stuff, like how my paint gets ropey in winter or tape won't stick right. It's just this whole bigger pattern where tiny details you never think about suddenly mess everything up.
