Just realized my cheap bone folder was costing me more in time

I spent $8 on a plastic one years ago and it never creased cleanly, so I'd redo lines. Finally bought a $35 Teflon folder last month and it glides right, cutting my finishing time in half. Anyone have a favorite tool that seemed like a splurge but actually paid off?

Sometimes the cheap tool is the right one for the job. A lot of expensive stuff is just marketing. My old plastic folder still works fine for me, and I don't mind taking a little extra time. Not every upgrade is worth the money just to save a few minutes.

Totally agree with @caseyflores, it's about the result not the price tag. I've seen people get so caught up in buying the "best" gear they forget to actually do the work. A simple tool that gets used beats a fancy one that collects dust.

Is the time you save not worth anything though? I get the whole "results over gear" thing but there's a point where a cheap tool costs you more in lost time and frustration than the price difference. My buddy used to swear by his crappy old saw, spent like an extra hour on every cut fighting with it. Upgraded to a nicer one and finished his projects in half the time. Saving time is a real result too, right?
