Last Tuesday everything went wrong, and I mean all at once
Last Tuesday I had one of those days where nothing worked. I was casing in a book I had spent two weeks on, and I mixed my wheat paste too thin by accident. The whole spine buckled when I pressed it, so I had to cut the cover off and start fresh. Then my bone folder snapped right in the middle of turning the headcaps, which I did not even know was possible. I checked my phone to order a new one and saw a text from the guy who ordered the book, asking if he could pick it up that night instead of Friday. I said sure because I did not want to lose the job. I stayed up until 1am redoing the case and got it done, but I was pressing it at 11pm and still not sure the glue would set. It ended up fine, he loved it, but I have never gone through that much paste and board in one day. Does anyone else keep a second bone folder around just in case, or am I the only one who learned that lesson the hard way?
