My shift to remote team lead in bookbinding is tougher than I expected

I oversee three binders who all work from different places. Keeping projects on track is a constant challenge without face-to-face chats. Our current system of weekly calls isn't cutting it for quick questions. How do you handle daily coordination and material checks with a scattered team?

What if you tried quick daily chats? My friend's team switched to five-minute video huddles and it fixed their material check issues.

Stop pushing for more meetings. Those five-minute huddles turn into twenty-minute complaints sessions every time. People hate being distracted all the time, and it kills real work time. Material checks need hands-on review, not another chat window. Your friend's team got lucky, but most places just waste time with extra calls.

Ever notice how the "quick fix" always ends up being the new normal? Like when they added a "brief" safety talk that now eats fifteen minutes every morning. It's the same energy, where a simple check-in bloats into a time sink because no one knows how to stop talking.
