Tried PVA on a limp paper repair and switched back to wheat paste after 2 books
I was rushing a 1911 dictionary with torn pages last month and grabbed the PVA bottle instead of cooking up paste, thinking it would save me an hour. Both books ended up stiff as a board at the mended spots and one page cracked when I opened it too far, so I soaked the hinges and redid them with wheat paste, which dried flat and flexible. Does anyone here keep PVA around for repairs at all, or is it strictly for casing in your shop?
