Vent: tried to rebind my grandma's 1962 cookbook and the spine cracked on the second open
I picked up a copy of my grandma's 1962 Betty Crocker cookbook at an estate sale in Dayton for $4, and the original spine was already gone so I figured I would rebind it myself with some book board and linen thread I had left over. I got the text block sewn up fine, but when I glued the new spine on and opened it to check, the whole thing cracked right down the middle near page 40. I think my glue was too thick or I did not press it long enough, but I am not sure which. Anyone got tips on how much PVA to use on a spine that is already brittle?
