I used to think cacti were boring plants until last month
Last month, I visited the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix and saw a night-blooming cereus open. A guide told me, 'It only blooms for one night a year.' Watching those huge white flowers unfold completely changed my mind. Now I'm looking for a cereus to grow at home. Has anyone here tried to get one to flower indoors?

That "only blooms for one night a year" thing is so cool but also a huge commitment. I read that they need a very specific temperature drop at night to trigger blooming, which is really hard to fake indoors without a dedicated space like a cool garage.

Wait, it only blooms for ONE night? That's wild. I'd be so scared I'd miss it.

So that temperature drop, is it like a sudden ten degree shift or does it need to stay cool for a whole season? My south facing room gets cold at night in winter but I don't know if that's enough.
