My jade plant is getting leggy even in bright light
I keep this jade plant on a south-facing sill where it gets tons of sun all day, but the stems are all long and weak now. I read that means it needs more light, but that doesn't make sense here. Has anyone else dealt with this, or am I missing something obvious?

Had a friend swear her jade was reaching for light too. She finally figured out she was watering it way too often, which made it grow all weak and stretched out. Might be worth checking your watering schedule.

@oliviaellis, the idea that overwatering makes a jade stretch out is honestly shocking... I always thought they got leggy from low light alone. My own jade just sits there compact if I forget to water it for weeks. Maybe the soil mix plays a bigger role than people say...

That "weak and stretched out" thing your friend saw could be from heat, not just water or light. I grew a jade near a heater one winter and it got all long and floppy even with a grow light on it. The stems were soft, not firm. Too much warmth can make them grow fast but weak, like they're rushing.
