Shoutout to my neighbor who finally admitted I was right about her monstera needing more light

After a whole year of watching that thing droop in her dark living room, she moved it to a south-facing window last month and now there's 3 new splits in the leaves. Has anyone else had a plant victory you didn't even know you were cheering for?

Different view here. Sometimes people just have different priorities with their plants and that's okay. Not everyone wants to turn their home into a greenhouse or chase the perfect leaf. Some folks just like having a green thing around that looks nice enough, even if it's not thriving. Also calling out your neighbor like that after a whole year, feels a bit much. She probably had other stuff going on, or maybe she just liked where it was. Plants can survive in lower light, they just don't grow as fast. Maybe that was fine for her. Glad the monstera is doing better now though. But let's not act like she owed you that win or something.

People really do get weirdly intense about plants nowadays... it's like there's this whole competitive gardening thing online that wasn't around before. Charles is right that not everyone needs their monstera to be some award winning specimen. Sometimes you just want a green thing in the corner that doesn't die immediately and that's a win in itself. The neighbor probably had that plant there for years and was fine with how it looked, even if it wasn't putting out massive fenestrated leaves like the ones you see on Instagram. Calling her out after a full year just seems like holding a grudge over something that wasn't really a problem for her. Different strokes for different folks I guess, not everyone's plant journey has to be about maximum growth.
