TIL some orchids need fire to sprout, I thought that was just folklore

I was reading a park service pamphlet from a trip to Florida last spring and it said certain native orchids only germinate after a controlled burn clears the brush. My whole life I figured fire was just for pine trees and prairie grass, turns out some of the rarest flowers in the Southeast depend on it. Has anyone else found a growing fact that completely flips what you assumed about plant care?

Some of the rarest flowers in the Southeast depend on it" got me because my dumb ass almost killed a store-bought orchid last year by giving it too much water. I always figured fire was the enemy of anything green, so finding out some plants literally need to be roasted to pop up is wild. Guess my overwatering was the wrong kind of chaos for em.
