Warning: I thought that 'feed the soil not the plant' line was just compost woo, then my monstera grew a leaf the size of a dinner plate
Two summers back in my apartment in Columbus, my monstera was stuck at four sad leaves for eight months no matter what fertilizer I poured on it. A woman at the local garden club told me to quit the blue powder and just top-dress with worm castings and let the soil life do the work. I rolled my eyes but tried it in April, and by July the thing pushed out a leaf I could literally rest a plate on. Now I want to know, has anyone here switched from liquid ferts to living soil for their houseplants, and did you see the same jump or did I just get lucky?
