Bought a $28 mortar mixing paddle from Harbor Freight. Regretted it on job one.

Learn the hard way with HF tools. Spend a few extra bucks next time. Cheaper paddles just don't hold up.

Dude same here. I bought one of those cheap $30 paddles from Amazon and it literally started delaminating after like 3 sessions. The face just peeled off. I was so pissed. Now I just stick with something from a real brand like Joola or Selkirk and yeah it costs more but it actually lasts more than a month.
