Can we talk about those cheap plastic brick line blocks?

I always thought they were junk and stuck with my old steel pins. Last month on a job in Phoenix, my partner brought a set of the plastic ones and I had to try them. After using them for a full 8-hour day on a 40-foot wall, I was shocked at how well they held the line and didn't rust or bend. What other tools did you guys think were gimmicks but actually work great?

What about those new laser measures? I wrote them off as overpriced toys for years. My old tape was just fine. Then I had to measure a long, weird attic space full of junk. Pulling out the laser was a total game changer, got a perfect number in two seconds. It completely changed my mind on the spot.

Totally had the same thing with those magnetic torpedo levels. Thought they were a silly fad until one stuck to a conduit run and saved me a huge headache.

Disagree about them being a fad honestly. They're just a tool that fits some jobs better than others. My old bubble level still works fine for most things.
