Finally got my mortar mix right on the first try after 8 years of doing this

I tried switching from a 3:1 sand-to-cement ratio to 3.5:1 for a retaining wall in Denver last week and it held up way better through the drying process. Has anyone else tinkered with their ratios depending on the weather?

Gotta say, I've noticed this same kind of adjustment in other things too, like cooking. For example, when I'm baking cookies in humid weather I always add an extra tablespoon of flour so they don't spread out flat. It's basically the same as changing your mortar mix for Denver's dry air. Real life is FULL of little tweaks like that. You just figure out what works and go with it.

Real life is FULL of little tweaks like that." So what ratio do you use for cookies?
