I finally stopped mixing mud by hand and bought a drill paddle

After 4 years of arm cramps and lumpy batches, I grabbed a cheap paddle mixer from Home Depot for $25. First time I used it on a ceiling patch job, the mud came out smooth in under a minute. My shoulder didn't ache for two days after. Anyone else been stubborn about this and finally made the switch?

Hand mixing lets you feel the consistency way better than a paddle ever will.

@alicecooper have you ever tried mixing with cold hands though because that changes the whole feel completely.
