Mortar mix was too wet on that townhouse row last Thursday

I was working on a row of townhouses over near Maple Street and my mortar kept slumping bad. Turns out the sand was damp from sitting out overnight and I didn't adjust the water. Had to rip out 12 bricks and start that section fresh. Any of you guys check your sand moisture before mixing?

A damp sand issue, happens to the best of us. Gotta test that moisture with your hand first. Live and learn with the extra cleanup.
