My foreman told me to wet my bricks before laying them in 95 degree heat

Soaked the first row so much they were dripping and the mortar slid right off, had to chisel them all out and start over - has anyone else figured out how much water is actually too much?

My buddy Tom did the exact same thing last summer on a patio job. He dunked the bricks in a kiddie pool and then couldn't get the mortar to stick for five hours. He told me now he just gives them a quick spray and lets them sit for a minute before buttering them up.

Yeah, that over-soaking mistake is brutal, glad Tom figured out the quick spray trick though!
