The old mason in Tulsa who made me tear out 12 courses of brick
Back in 2019 I was laying a fireplace surround in Tulsa and the homeowner's uncle, a retired mason of 40 years, watched me finish a corner and then just pointed at it and shook his head. He grabbed a trowel, popped off 12 courses I had already laid, and rebuilt that corner in about 20 minutes with a level and a story pole, saying "a corner shows the truth of every brick behind it." How do you all handle it when someone with more miles on their trowel calls out your work on a job you thought was finished?
