Am I the only one who thinks dry beans beat canned beans by a mile?
I did the math last week after grabbing a 2 lb bag of pinto beans at the store in Boise for $1.89 versus four cans at $1.25 each, and the dry ones came out to like 22 cents per cooked cup. The trick was soaking them overnight and tossing in a bay leaf, way better taste too. Only downside is the wait, but I just start them before work. Anyone got a good trick for speeding up the soak without losing flavor?
