Caught myself tossing veggie scraps for years, then a friend called me out

I used to just throw carrot peels and onion ends straight in the trash without a second thought. Then my neighbor saw me do it and said 'you know that's free broth, right?' Now I stash them in a freezer bag and make stock once a month for basically zero cost. Anyone else make that switch and see a difference in their grocery bill?

Honestly it took me FOREVER to realize this too and I felt so dumb when it clicked. My buddy literally laughed at me for throwing away chicken bones and veggie scraps like they were garbage. Now I keep a gallon Ziploc in my freezer and just toss everything in there until it's full. The stock I get out of it tastes SO much better than the carton stuff from the store too. Plus I swear my grocery bill dropped like $15 a month just from not buying broth anymore. It's such a small habit change but it really adds up.

Oh wow, have you ever tried making broth in a slow cooker or do you just boil it on the stove? I've been thinking about trying the slow cooker method but I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle.
