I hit $3.50 per meal and it totally changed my mind about beans
For years I thought dried beans were too much work, so I only bought canned. Last month I tracked my spending and my average meal cost was $5.75. I switched to a big bag of dried black beans from the bulk bin, and after a month of using them in soups and rice bowls, my new average is $3.50! The savings are real and they don't take that long to cook. Has anyone else had a cheap ingredient they avoided that turned out to be a game changer?

Yeah the slow cooker overnight thing is a game changer lol. I did that with chili last week and woke up to the whole house smelling amazing.

Right? I did a pulled pork overnight last week and it was the best decision ever, meat was falling apart by breakfast time.
