People who put olive oil in the pasta water need to stop immediately

Saw a TikTok of some influencer dumping good olive oil into the pot before boiling noodles. Like, why? It just floats on top and does nothing except waste $3 worth of oil. I've been doing this for 12 years as a bachelor cook in Phoenix and I promise you, a splash of cheap vegetable oil after straining keeps things separate. Anyone else see people doing weird stuff in the kitchen that drives them nuts?

The oil coats the noodles so sauce slides right off, that's a REAL problem.

Oh man, that is so frustrating! Honestly, you spend all that time cooking and you want every bite to be perfectly coated. Ngl, I've ruined whole pasta dinners because I let the noodles sit too long in oil before adding the sauce. Tbh, it's like eating sad, slippery spaghetti when the sauce just pools at the bottom of the bowl. Makes you feel like you wasted a good sauce too.
