Pro tip: I stopped buying canned beans and started cooking dried ones after my grocery bill hit 45 dollars a week on just pantry staples

After a 3 month comparison, dried beans cost me 79 cents a pound while the same amount in cans ran about 2.50, and the flavor difference was huge - has anyone else made the switch and noticed a similar savings?

Sure, if you value scrubbing and soaking beans for hours over opening a can. I'll keep paying the extra buck for the convenience.

Scrubbing and soaking beans for hours" is a bit of a stretch for most people. A quick rinse and an overnight soak is really all you need, and that's maybe 2 minutes of actual work. Plus, dried beans are like half the price and way less sodium, so I'll take that trade off every time.
