Rice cooker vs stovetop for beans. Stovetop won by a mile.

I tried making black beans from dry in my rice cooker last week to save on electricity and it was a mess. They came out uneven with some mushy and some still crunchy after two hours. So I went back to my old stovetop method with a $12 pot from Target and they were perfect in 90 minutes. The rice cooker just doesn't get hot enough for beans even on the brown rice setting. Plus the cleanup was easier on the stovetop since I didn't have to scrub the nonstick pot. Has anyone else found a cheap rice cooker that works for beans? Ive got a $25 Aroma model and it clearly cant handle it.

Aroma is more of a suggestion than a promise with those things...
