Spent $30 on a crappy rice cooker and it burned me twice before I got smart

Bought this no-name rice cooker from a discount store back in March cause my old one finally gave out. First time using it, the rice came out mushy and stuck to the bottom so bad I had to soak the pot overnight. Second time I tried with less water and it still burned the bottom layer black. The smell was awful. Ended up tossing it after 3 weeks and got a basic Aroma brand one for $25 at Target that works perfectly. Anyone else have a kitchen gadget fail that actually cost more in wasted food than it was worth?

Oh man, that sucks. I bought a cheap mini chopper once and it literally smoked after three uses. The blade was so dull it just mashed everything into a wet paste instead of chopping. Ended up throwing out a whole batch of salsa ingredients cause it looked like baby food mixed with motor oil. Sometimes being cheap just costs you more in the long run.

My little handheld mixer started screaming like a dying cat on the third batch of cookie dough. Smoke poured out the vents and it left this weird burnt plastic smell that hung around for days. The cheap thing cost me $12 but I trashed a whole bag of chocolate chips and two sticks of butter that got ruined by that gross smoke taste. Guess some deals are just really bad luck in disguise.
