That bag of 'bargain' onions cost me $12 in wasted food
Honestly I got too excited about a 10 pound bag of onions for $3 at the grocery store last month. Thought I was being smart stocking up but half of them sprouted or got soft within 10 days. I ended up throwing away like 5 pounds and had to buy fresh ones for my meal prep anyway. Next time I'm just buying loose onions as I need them since my apartment doesn't have a cool dark storage spot. Anyone else fall for the bulk produce trap and regret it?

Ugh, I did the exact same thing with a big bag of potatoes once and felt so dumb about it. It's like you're trying to be thrifty and the universe just punishes you for it.

Actually I’m with the grocery store on this one. I saw a guy at my local Safeway try to return a half-eaten bag of apples and the cashier had to explain their policy for like five minutes. @stella904, potatoes are cheap and they last for months if you store them right, so buying a big bag is smart but you gotta take responsibility for using them. If everyone returned perishable food they didn’t finish, stores would lose a ton of money and prices would go up for the rest of us. Plus it’s a waste of staff time to process returns on a three dollar bag of potatoes when they could be restocking shelves.
