Vent: my $18 bulk lentil week turned into a 5 day sad bean fest
I bought 5 pounds of red lentils at the Indian market on Monday thinking I'd save on groceries, but by Thursday I was eating them plain with hot sauce because every recipe I tried came out mushy and bland, so has anyone actually found a way to make lentils exciting on a tight budget or should I just go back to canned soup?

What recipes did you try, and did you add acid or salt at the end?
