Vent: That new grocery store in Phoenix has me questioning my whole meal plan
Went to the Fresh Market that opened near 7th Ave last Saturday and the clearance rack was completely empty by 9am, but they wanted $5.50 for a single bell pepper. Meanwhile my usual discount grocer two blocks over sells the same pepper for $1.25, so why does everyone keep acting like this place is a steal? Has anyone else noticed these fancy stores jacking up prices on basics just because they look nicer inside?
Five fifty for a pepper is nuts... that's the whole thing with these places though. They dress it up with nice lights and fancy signs and people just assume the food is better. Same pepper, same farm probably, just a nicer shelf to sit on. I'll stick with my little spot that looks like a dump and charges a buck.
